We have events going on across the county during the Festival Week. Whatever your interests we are sure there is something for you. Many of these events happen day in day out so it is a chance to meet new people, learn new skills and get involved in your local community.

Here is a taster of what’s to come. We will be updating this page as events become available to book – so please keep visiting.

Monday 26 November

Shimmy 'n' Groove session, County Hall, Chelmsford
Calling all Essex County Council Staff … get your week off on the right foot with a keep fit session.

Harbour: Social Meet-up Maldon, St Mary’s Church, Maldon
Open to all. Come along for one to one and peer mentoring support on using IT Equipment.

Mental Health First Aid Training: Age Concern Colchester, North Hill
Internationally recognised training, delivered by Provide, this is an opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of mental health issues.

Tuesday 27 November

Pop-up Shed, Ideas Hub at Chelmsford Library
Men’s Sheds are popping up at the Ideas Hub. Come and enjoy a day assembling bird boxes, meeting new people, and learning more about Men’s Sheds the social space for men.

A great chance to have you say on local community projects – making great things happen in Maldon

FabLab, Basildon Library
Come to the Creatorspace at Basildon Library – suitable for makers, crafters, digital nomads – anybody who likes to thinks with tech.

Social Media Workshop, Chelmsford CVS, Coval Lane
A chance for groups and organisations in Essex to get a masterclass in maximising social media.

Wednesday 28 November

Creative Journeys Showcase, Anglia Ruskin University
Explores the impact of participatory arts on the social relationships of older people in care homes.

The Magic of Community Cinema: Chelmsford CVS, Coval Lane
Community cinema is a great way of bringing people together. Join us for this informal learning and discussion event to find out more about how you could set up cinema screenings in your local community. 

Basildon Wellness Day: Eastgate Shopping Centre
Come and join us at the Happy Hub to find out about the support available to you – there will be lifestyle advice, health checks, dementia support, seated exercise and more.

Thursday 29 November

Network Speed Dating: Reducing Social Isolation, Ideas Hub at Chelmsford Library
If you are a group or organisation in Chelmsford working to reduce social isolation come and network with others. Let’s try and collaborate for real change.

As well as all of the above events we are showcasing activity that happens across Essex day in day out. Opportunities to get involved learn a new skill, do something you enjoy and meet new people.

Across the Festival week there are over 170 activities going in Libraries across Essex. From Book Groups to Code Clubs, from Writing Groups to Knit and Natters. Whether you want to get into employment, learn a new skill or just join in a social activity check out what is going on near you.

If you live in Chelmsford or the surrounding area have you come across The Ideas Hub, a great place to meet new people, learn new skills or just pop in for a coffee and a chat. There’s something going on every day so take a look.
